Compared with the previous auction; the feeder steers and heifers traded
with a sharply lower undertone on a very light supply. Slaughter cows
4.00-5.00 lower. Unstable financial conditions on a global scale continue
to affect all markets. Cattle, corn, and soybean futures all closed down
the daily limit Monday. Demand and supply light. Cows and bulls
accounted for 24 percent of the run and feeders 76 percent. In the feeder
supply, steers and bulls made up approximately 55 percent of the run;
heifers 45 percent; steers and heifers over 600 lbs totaled around
35 percent.

Compared to last week, steers 7.00 to 12.00 lower; heifers 6.00 to
9.00 lower on a light and mostly lower quality test. Slaughter cows
2.00 to 3.00 lower. Demand was light. Continuing turmoil in world-
wide markets is still pressuring commodities markets. Market
volatility is in uncharted territory. Cows and bulls were 24 percent
of receipts. In the feeder supply, steers and bulls were 73 percent of
the run; heifers 27 percent. Near 32 percent of feeders weighed
over 600 lbs.

Compared to last Monday, breaking and boning slaughter cows and
slaughter bulls sold 3.00 lower while lean cows sold 4.00 lower. Meat
prices trended lower over the weekend and was reflected in the slaughter
prices. As the slaughter prices reach a lower level a higher percent of
the offering returned to the farm as replacements. The supply was moderate
and demand light to moderate for slaughter classes.

Supply very light and demand moderate to light. Quality not as attractive
as normal. Lower market prices over the last month and futures down the
limit today added to the decision not to sell today. Many weights have
declined as much as 20 dollars per hundred over the last month. The
feeder supply included 44 percent steers, 40 percent heifers, 15 percent
bulls, with 51 percent over 600 lbs.
