Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 12/07/2018

   Compared to last week, steers and heifers sold 5.00 to 7.00 lower 
with instances of 10.00 to 12.00 lower, mostly on unweaned heifers. A
few of the top quality 700-750 lb steers traded steady. Slaughter cows
3.00 to 5.00 lower. Slaughter cattle accounted for 21 percent of total
offering. The feeder supply consisted of 60 perceent steers and 
bulls and 40 percent heifers; 59 percent of all the feeder cattle 
weighed over 600 lbs.

Northeast Missouri Show-Me-Select Replacement Heifer Sale
F and T Livestock Market, Palmyra, MO      12/8/18

in cooperation with Missouri Show-Me-Select Heifers, Inc, University
of Missouri Extension, MU College of Veterinary Medicine, Missouri
Cattlemen's Association, and Missouri Department of Agriculture.

   All Heifers in the sale have met minimum standards for reproductive
soundness, pelvic size, body condition and weight. They have also
undergone a comprehensive health program, and were guaranteed bred
to easy calving bulls, with many synchronized and artificially bred.
Projected calving dates were given for all lots with the heifers
expected to calve from mid-January thru April, with the majority due in
February and March.  The offering was screened for blemishes,
muscle thickness, frame, body condition score (BCS), and disposition by
a final screening committee comprised of official graders from the
Missouri Department of Agriculture and USDA, then sorted into lots
according to calving dates and body type similarity.  A full house was
on hand on a cold but sunny Saturday afternoon.  Demand was moderate to
good with the sale averaging 1880.00 per head on 79 lots.  This was
238.00 per head lower than last yearís fall average.

   Replacement Bred Heifers:  Medium to Mostly Large 1-2  1050-1400 lbs
2nd and 3rd stages preg 1700.00-2100.00 per head, several packages
mostly reputation and including some registered heifers 1250-1400 lbs
and Mostly 3rd period preg 2100.00-2450.00 per head, with a couple
packages topping the sale at 2725.00-2800.00 per head.  Medium 1-2
950-1200 lbs 2nd and 3rd stages preg 1450.00-1650.00 per head.

Southeast Missouri Show-Me Select Replacement Heifer Sale
Farmington - Farmington Livestock Auction   12/7/18

   Coordinated by Show Me Select Board with University Extension, Commercial 
Agriculture Program, MU College of Veterinary Medicine, Missouri Cattlemen 
Association and Missouri Dept of Agriculture. 
 
   Heifers in this sale have met minimum standards for reproductive soundness, 
pelvic size, frame size, muscle thickness, body condition, and weight.  They 
have undergone a comprehensive health program, and are guaranteed bred.  There 
are 46 A.I. bred heifers and some with known fetal sexed. Approximately 8 
percent of the offering were Teir 2 Show Me Select heifers. This means that they 
have met requirements and are out high accuracy sires.  All heifers are expected 
to calve from late January to late April.  The offering includes 2 Registered 
Angus.  Heifers were graded and sorted into uniform lots according to projected 
calving dates and body type similarity. Demand very good compared to last spring 
and the offering moderate with a very good attendance. 

   Supply consisted of 74 bred heifers from 7 producers, in 31 lots selling to 
15 different buyers with a sale average of $2334.00 per head.  There were 5 
head of Tear 2-AI bred heifers, with an average sale price of $2730.00; 2 head 
of Tear 2 natural bred, with an average sale price of $2100.00 per head; 41 head 
of Tear 1-AI heifers, with an average sale price of $2550.00; 26 head of Tear 1 
natural bred heifers, with an average sale price of $1937.00 per head.  The 
average of all AI bred heifers was $2570.00 per head, $1948.00 average for 
natural bred heifers.

   Replacement Heifers:   Few Reg. Angus, Medium and Large 1-2 1235-1425 lbs, 
3rd stage $2800.00-$3200.00 per head; Large 1, 1035-1325 lbs, 2nd and 3rd stage, 
$2400.00-$2950.00 per head; Large 1-2, 1035-1310 lbs, 2nd and 3rd stage, 
$2150.00-$2600.00 per head; Large 2, 1015-1330 lbs 2nd and 3rd stage $1900.00-
$2250.00 per head, Medium 1, 935-1045 lbs, 2nd and 3rd stage, $1800.00-$2150.00 
per head; few Medium 2, 885-1030 lbs, 2nd and 3rd stage, $1450.00-$1700.00 per 
head.

 Demand was moderate for this month's Special Cow Sale. A couple large
 consignments of first calf heifers were on offer, a mix of bull bred and AI
 bred, some fetal sexed and of western origin. Several groups of young to
 running age cows were available as well as several local cattlemen continue to
 trim their herds for lack of hay and feed. Some of the cows had calves by side
 and were in pretty thin condition. Supply moderate.
