Jefferson City, MO Mon Dec 06, 2010 MO Dept of Ag/USDA Market News North Central Missouri Show-Me-Select Replacement Heifer Sale Green City Livestock Auction, Green City, MO 12/04/10 Receipts: 123 Year Ago: 69 Coordinated by Missouri Show-Me-Select Replacement Heifers, Inc. in cooperation with University of Missouri Extension, University of Missouri Commercial Agriculture Program, MU College of Veterinary Medicine, Missouri Cattlemen’s Association and Missouri Department of Agriculture/USDA. Heifers on offer have all met minimum standards for reproductive soundness, pelvic size, body condition and weight. They have also undergone a comprehensive health program and are guaranteed bred to easy calving bulls, with several synchronized and artificially bred. Projected calving dates were given for all lots with the majority of the heifers expected to calve in February and March. Heifers were screened for blemishes, frame, muscle, body condition score (BCS) and disposition by a final screening committee comprised of official graders from the Missouri Department of Agriculture and USDA and then sorted into lots according to calving dates and body type similarity. Demand good to very good with all heifers black hided. Sale average of 1381.00 on 28 lots, compared to an average of 1206.00 on 21 lots a year ago. Bred Heifers: Large 1 1050-1300 lbs 2nd and 3rd stage 1375.00-1575.00 per head, few lots extra fancy 1725.00-1750.00. Large 1-2 1000-1300 lbs 2nd and 3rd stage 1250.00-1400.00. Medium and Large 1 1000-1150 lbs 2nd and 3rd stage 1300.00-1500.00. Medium and Large 1-2 950-1150 lbs 2nd and 3rd stage most 1300.00-1400.00, few lots 1150.00-1275.00.
