Northeast Missouri Show-Me-Select Replacement Heifer Sale
F and T Livestock Market, Palmyra, MO for 12/8/12

Receipts: 312 Year Ago: 255

Coordinated by Missouri "Show-Me-Select" Heifers, Inc, Northeast
Missouri Beef Cattle Improvement Association in cooperation with
Commercial Agriculture Program, University of Missouri Extension,
MU College of Veterinary Medicine, Missouri Cattlemen's Association,
and Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA.

All Heifers in the sale have met minimum standards for reproductive
soundness, pelvic size, body condition and weight. They have also
undergone a comprehensive health program, and were guaranteed bred
to easy calving bulls, with many synchronized and artificially bred.
Projected calving dates were given for all lots with all heifers
expected to calve from January thru April, with the majority due in
February and March. The offering was screened for blemishes, muscle,
frame, body condition score (BCS), and disposition by a final
screening committee comprised of official graders from USDA and the
Missouri Department of Agriculture, then sorted into lots according
to calving dates and body type similarity. An overflow crowd was on
hand with some buyers traveling several hundred miles and representing
several surrounding states in attendance. Demand was very good with
the sale averaging 2097.00 per head on 96 lots. This was 85.00 per
head above last year’s average and 432.00 higher than two years ago.
