   Coordinated by Show-Me-Select Board with University of Missouri
Extension, University of Missouri Commercial Agriculture Program, MU
College of Veterinary Medicine, Missouri Cattlemen's Association and
Missouri Department of Agriculture.

   All heifers having met minimum standards for reproductive soundness,
pelvic size, body condition and weight. They have also undergone a
comprehensive health program, and were guaranteed bred to easy calving
bulls, with 58 percent artificially bred.  These heifers were expected
for the most part to calve from February 3rd thru March 31st, 2012, with
projected calving dates given for each lot of heifers.  Majority of these
heifers (85 percent) were black, with 15 percent black baldies, red
baldies, or red.  Flesh condition was mostly in upper moderate to low
fleshy.  The offering was screened for blemishes, graded, and body
condition scored (BCS) by a final screening committee, comprised of
official graders from the Missouri Dept of Agriculture and USDA, then
sorted into lots according to calving dates and body type similarity
where permissible.  There was a standing room only crowd on hand for the
sale and following special cow sale.  Seventy two lots totaling 197 head
sold with an average weight of 1084 lbs and an average price of 1670.00
per head compared to 1123 lbs and 1434.00 per head last year, with six
lots bringing 2000.00 per head.

   Replacement Bred Heifers:  Large 1  1116-1400 lbs, 1700.00-2000.00 per
head; Large 1-2  1080-1452 lbs, 1500.00-1875.00 per head; Medium and
Large 1  996-1310 lbs, 1575.00-2050.00 per head; Medium and Large 1-2  943-1135 lbs, 
1400.00-1825.00 per head; few Medium and Large 2  955-995 lbs,1300.00-1400.00 per head; 
few Medium 1-2  901-1007 lbs, 1285.00-1400.00 per head.
