New Cambria - New Cambria Livestock Auction
Feeder Cattle Auction for 10/29/09

Receipts: 1015 Week Ago: 906 Year Ago: 512

Compared to last week, steer and heifer calves steady with not
enough yearlings for a price test. Slaughter cows 1.00-2.00 lower.
A large crowd on hand with several buyers interested in owning calves
despite the fact that it’s raining again and mud continues to be a
real problem throughout North Missouri. Several strings of calves
in the offering were not weaned and some lacking a full round of fall
shots. Buyers have really stressed this fall that calves need to be
weaned for at least 45 days and be fully vaccinated to have a chance
at bringing top dollar. Demand and supply moderate. Cows and bulls
accounted for 7 percent of the run and feeders 93 percent. In the
feeder supply, steers and bulls made up approximately 57 percent of
the run; heifers 43 percent; steers and heifers over 600 lbs totaled
around 30 percent.
