Feeder Cattle Auction for 09/04/08

Receipts:  532    Week Ago:  684    Year Ago:  No Sale

   Compared with the previous auction; feeder steers and heifers trading
mostly steady on a light test.  Slaughter cows steady.  Best demand on
steers.  Two days of rain limiting cattle movement.  Fall pasture should
be excellent with all of the moisture and mild temperatures currently
present.  Demand moderate to good and supply light.  Cows and bulls
accounted for 8 percent of the run and feeders 92 percent.  In the feeder
supply, steers and bulls made up approximately 72 percent of the run;
heifers 28 percent; steers and heifers over 600 lbs totaled around
55 percent.

   Feeder Steers:  Medium and Large 1 Pkg 290 lbs 135.00; 400-500 lbs
130.00-136.00; 500-600 lbs 119.00-126.00; Few 600-700 lbs 121.00-122.50,

   Compared to last week, steers from 450-700 lbs 1.00 to 3.00 higher;
heifers uneven.  Feeder quality was mixed.  Best demand for weaned
calves and yearlings.  With changing weather, buyers were reluctant to
bid-up unweaned calves.  Slaughter cows firm to 1.00 higher.  Cows and
bulls were 19 percent of receipts.  In the feeder supply, steers and
bulls were 53 percent of the run; heifers 47 percent.  Near 27 percent
of feeders weighed over 600 lbs.

450 lbs 124.00-126.00; 500-600 lbs 118.00-125.00; 600-700 lbs 109.00-
