New Cambria - New Cambria Livestock Auction
Feeder Cattle Auction for 4/28/16

Receipts: 1022 Week Ago: 1136 Year Ago: 1010

Compared to last week, steer and heifer calves under 600 lbs
5.00-10.00 lower, with no comparisons on weights over 600 lbs,
although a full load of 734 lb yearling heifers at 140.00 sold with a
firm undertone. Slaughter cows steady. Limit lower beef futures in
Chicago is keeping the pressure on the cash market. Soybeans, corn,
wheat, and hogs along with other non-ag commodities have experienced
nice rallies in recent weeks. However, unfortunately for cattle
producers the beef market has not been able to participate and
continues to spiral lower. Demand moderate to good and supply
moderate. Cows and bulls accounted for 14 percent of the run and
feeders 86 percent. In the feeder supply, steers and bulls made up
approximately 52 percent; heifers 48 percent; steers and heifers
over 600 lbs totaled around 38 percent.

Scheduling note: New Cambria will hold a Special Replacement Cow Sale
next Thursday evening, May 5, at 6:00 pm. The next feeder sale is
Thursday, May 12.
