   Compared to last week, steers and heifers and slaughter cows and bulls 
3.00 to 5.00 lower.  Demand moderate to light, supply heavy.  Near 13
percent of the offering were replacement cows, slaughter cows and bulls.
The feeder supply included 52 percent steers, 43 percent heifers, 5
percent bulls, with 26 percent over 600 lbs.  The coldest day of the fall
with the temperature remaining below freezing all day.
***Note***Next Thursday will be the last sale at Douglas County Livestock
Auction before the Christmas Holiday break.

Feeder Cattle Report for 12/8/2016

   Compared to last week, steers sold mostly steady, spots 2.00
higher on 650-750 lbs. A light test of heifer calves sold 5.00-
8.00 lower, all other weights steady to 5.00 lower. Buyers aren’t
as aggressively pursuing those lightweight grazing cattle as
colder weather has set in across the country. Demand was moderate
to light with a moderate supply. The run of feeders was made up
mostly of a few larger consignments of 500-750 lb steers that
had been preconditioned and included near 64 percent steers and
bulls, 36 percent heifers, and 65 percent over 600 lbs. Cows and
bulls totaled 20 percent of the offering. Slaughter cows sold
mixed, breaking and boning cows 1.00 lower. Lean cows 3.00-4.00
lower.

   Supply light to moderate on a nice offering of mostly lambs and ewes selling
in nice lots and groups and trading with good demand.  The supply was
 near 75 percent sheep and near 25 percent goats.  Slaughter lambs and market
kid goats sold with a higher undertone from last month.  Montgomery County
Livestock Auction holds the Sheep and Goat Auction the second Thursday of each
month.  All prices per cwt unless noted otherwise.

   Compared to last week, steers and heifers sold steady to 4.00 lower.
Slaughter cows steady to 2.00 lower. The first arctic blast of the season blew
in mid-week which will help harden up the fleshy or unweaned calves that are
still coming to town, making it a little bit easier for new owners to
straighten out their purchases. Supply and demand moderate. Cows and bulls
accounted for 09 percent of the total offering. The feeder supply consisted of
54 percent steers and bulls and 46 percent heifers; 41 percent of all the
feeder cattle weighed over 600 lbs. 

**Scheduling Note: New Cambria Livestock will hold a Special Bred Cow Sale on 
Saturday, December 17 at 11a.m. The next feeder sale is Thursday, December 22.**

Special Dairy Heifer Sale Report for 12/8/2016

   At this month's special dairy sale at the Producers Auction Yard,
demand was good on a heavy supply of milking and bred cows and a light 
supply of open heifers and calves.  The supply consisted of 3 percent 
Springer Heifers, 12 percent Bred Heifers, 10 percent Open Heifers, 19 
percent Fresh and Milking Cows, 7 percent Bred Cows and 5 percent baby
calves.  The balance was made up of weigh cows and beef animals.  All
