Feeder Cattle Auction for 7/21/16

   Compared to last week, not enough steers and heifers of any one weight
or kind for a good market test.  Slaughter cows steady to firm, slaughter
bulls were scarce.  Demand moderate and supply light.  The hot, humid
weather has curtailed cattle movement.  Near 18 percent of the receipts
were replacement cows, slaughter cows and bulls.  The feeder supply 
included 53 percent steers, 39 percent heifers, 08 percent bulls, with
21 percent over 600 lbs.

   Feeder steers: Medium and Large 1  430-485 lbs few 157.00-162.00; 525
-600 lbs 143.00-146.00.  Medium and Large 1-2 pkg 397 lbs 160.00; 400-475
lbs 152.50-160.00; 530-600 lbs 136.00-145.00; pkg 662 lbs 138.00; 700-735
lbs 132.50-137.50.  Small 4 pkg 593 lbs Jerseys 70.00.

   Feeder Heifers: Medium and Large 1  380-400 lbs 140.00-146.00; 400-500
lbs few 137.00-142.00; pkg 640 lbs calves 125.00; pkg 817 lbs 120.00.
Medium and Large 1-2 pkg 331 lbs 153.00; 425-470 lbs 130.00-138.00; 525

   Compared to two weeks ago, not enough comparable sales for a
price trend, undertone lower. Cattle continue to trend lower on
the board. Near 50 percent steers and bulls, and 50 percent heifers
with 36 percent over 600 lbs. Supply was very light and demand was
moderate to light. Cows and bulls totaled 15 percent of the offering.
Slaughter cows sold 2.00 to 4.00 lower on a very light test when
compared to two weeks ago.
   
   Feeder Steers:  Medium and Large 1  400-500 lbs 160.00-171.00,
lot 407 lbs thin 178.00; 500-600 lbs 143.00-157.00; 600-650 lbs
140.00-148.50.  Medium and Large 1-2  lot 479 lbs 155.00; pkg 568
