New Cambria - New Cambria Livestock Auction
Feeder Cattle Auction for 5/26/16

Receipts: 1678 2 Weeks Ago: 1672 Year Ago: 1607

Compared to the previous auction from two weeks ago, feeder steers
and heifers under 700 lbs 8.00-12.00 lower except for a few
featherweight heifer calves trading near steady. Too few yearlings
for a good test although the undertone was lower. Slaughter cows
steady to 2.00 higher. Feeder prices remain hitched to the weekly fed
cattle trade. A couple of weeks ago the fed cattle traded sharply
higher, in the 134.00 neighborhood, and the feeder cattle market
exploded higher. Thursday reports of fed cattle trading down to
125.00 live and the feeder market reacted with a sharply lower trade.
Demand and supply moderate. Cows and bulls accounted for 8 percent
of the run and feeders 92 percent. In the feeder supply, steers and
bulls made up approximately 57 percent; heifers 43 percent; steers and
heifers over 600 lbs totaled around 31 percent.

Scheduling note: The next feeder sale is Thursday, June 9.
