Macon – Lolli Brothers Livestock Market
Special Cow Sale Report for 12/18/14

Receipts: 683

A large crowd was on hand for this month’s Special Cow Sale at Lolli Brothers
Livestock Market. Several local reputation herds were represented throughout the
evening including some groups of fancy black first-calf heifers and a complete
dispersal of young spring calving cows, some of which were registered Angus or
Black Simmental. A tough stretch of days in the cattle sector recently but the
top prices of the evening proved the cow/calf man still believes good days are
in store. Supply moderate and demand moderate to good. Bulk of the supply bred
cows in the 3rd stage.

Special Calf & Yearling Sale Tuesday, December 30th. Next Special Cow Sale

New Cambria Livestock Auction
Feeder Cattle Auction for 12/18/14

Receipts: 1685 2 Weeks Ago: 2225 Year Ago: 1942

Compared to the previous auction from two weeks ago, steer calves
under 700 lbs 10.00-20.00 lower, with feeder steers over 700 lbs
20.00-25.00 lower. Feeder heifers 400-800 lbs mostly 5.00-10.00 lower,
with instances of 15.00-20.00 lower on the fleshier/un-weaned packages.
Slaughter cows steady. The market was pretty active as buyers were happy
to get the chance to buy cattle a little cheaper. Cattle futures finally
trading and actually closing higher, hopefully signaling a more normal
trade in the days ahead. Most markets will be closed or operating at
a reduced schedule until the new year, so a good cash trade will be
absent for the next couple of weeks. Demand was moderate to good and
the supply moderate. Cows and bulls accounted for 8 percent of the run
and feeders 92 percent. In the feeder supply, steers and bulls made up
approximately 61 percent; heifers 39 percent; steers and heifers over
600 lbs totaled around 56 percent.

***Scheduling note: No sale Christmas week. The next sale at New Cambria
will be Monday, December 29.***
