Ava - Douglas County Livestock Auction
Feeder Cattle Auction 06/23/16

Receipts: 727 Last Week: 834 Last Year: 1000

Based on limited comparisons with last week, feeder steers sold
5.00 to 8.00 lower, spots 10.00 lower. Feeder heifers 3.00 to 5.00
lower. Demand moderate. Supply light to moderate. Slaughter cows
steady to 2.00 lower. The feeder supply consisted of 55 percent
steers, 33 percent heifers, 10 percent bulls, 2 percent Holstein
steers, and 20 percent of the feeders were over 600 lbs. Cows and
bulls accounted for approximately 19 percent. A trend of hot and
humid weather, along with lower cattle prices, discouraged producers
from bringing cattle to the sale barn.

New Cambria - New Cambria Livestock Auction
Feeder Cattle Auction for 6/23/16

Receipts: 1346 2 Weeks Ago: 1246 Year Ago: 1522

Compared to the active market from two weeks ago, feeder steers
and heifers 5.00-10.00 lower, instances 15.00 lower on a light test
of calves. Slaughter cows steady. The sharply lower fed cattle trade
over the past few weeks continues to pressure the feeder market, and
live cattle futures currently offer little optimism of a better
market down the road. Demand and supply moderate. Cows and bulls
accounted for 6 percent of the run and feeders 94 percent. In the
feeder supply, steers and bulls made up approximately 68 percent;
heifers 32 percent; steers and heifers over 600 lbs totaled around
52 percent.
