Cattle Auction Report for 11/19/2009
Receipts: 723 One Week Ago: 1169 Year Ago: 1135
Compared to last weeks larger run, steers and heifers mostly 1.00 to
4.00 lower with a few of the right kind, quality, and condition 650 to
705 lb steers 2.00 higher. Slaughter cows steady. Average feeder
quality not as attractive as last week. Demand light to moderate. Cows
and bulls were 14 percent of receipts. In the feeder supply, steers and
bulls were 53 percent of the run; heifers 47 percent. Near 47 percent of
feeders weighed over 600 lbs. No sale next week. Enjoy the holiday.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers steady to
2.00 lower. Slaughter cows steady. Calf prices continue to hold
up well considering the extremely muddy conditions throughout the
area, high grain prices, and the sour fed cattle market. Demand
moderate and supply moderate to light. Cows and bulls accounted
for 7 percent of the run and feeders 93 percent. In the feeder
supply, steers and bulls made up approximately 50 percent of the
run; heifers 50 percent; steers and heifers over 600 lbs totaled
around 67 percent.
