Feeder Cattle Auction

   Compared to last week, steer calves less than 450 lbs 5.00 to 10.00 lower,
steer calves over 450 lbs and heifer calves steady, yearlings not well tested.
Slaughter cows and bulls steady.  Demand moderate to good, supply moderate.
Producers appreciated the several inches of rain that helped relieved the dry
conditions.  Live Cattle and Feeder Cattle futures reversed recent down trend
and closed with triple digits gains.  Near 14 percent of the receipts were 
replacement cows, slaughter cows and bulls.  The feeder supply included 48
percent steers, 41 percent heifers, 11 percent bulls, with 21 percent over
600 lbs.

New Cambria - New Cambria Livestock Auction
Feeder Cattle Auction for 10/16/14

   Compared to the active market from last week, feeder steers and
heifers mostly steady with some weights only lightly tested.  Slaughter
cows steady.  Much of the feeder offering sold in small packages with
the overall quality not as attractive as previous sales.  Dry weather
forecasted in the days ahead should put the grain harvest back in
action.  Demand good and the supply moderate.  Cows and bulls accounted
for 11 percent of the run and feeders 89 percent.  In the feeder supply,
steers and bulls made up approximately 44 percent; heifers 56 percent;
steers and heifers over 600 lbs totaled around 48 percent.

Scheduling note:  New Cambria will hold a special replacement cow sale
on Saturday, October 25.  The next feeder sale is Thursday, October 30.
