   Compared to last week, steer and heifer calves 3.00 to 5.00 lower, no
recent test on yearlings for a price comparison.  Slaughter cows 3.00 to
5.00 lower, slaughter bulls 2.00 to 3.00 lower.  Demand and supply
moderate.  Near 16 percent of the receipts was replacement cows,

   Compared to last week, based on a few comparable sales feeders sold steady.
Buyers paid no mind to Wednesday’s limit down futures market for feeders and
were actively pursuing all weights of cattle. Corn closed sharply lower on
Thursday. A large consignment of 100 head made up a high percentage of the
feeders. Demand was good with a light supply. The feeder offering included near
62 percent steers and bulls, and 38 percent heifers, with 64 percent over 600
lbs. Cows and bulls totaled 29 percent of the offering. Slaughter cows sold
steady.

thin 194.00; 500-600 lbs 154.00-172.50; 600-700 lbs 150.00-157.75, pkg 622 lbs

Special Dairy Heifer Sale Report for 0810/2017

   At this month's special dairy sale at the Producers Auction Yard,
demand was good on a light supply.  The supply consisted of 7 percent 
Springer Heifers, 7 percent Bred Heifers, 24 percent Open Heifers, 6
percent Fresh and Milking Cows, 2 percent Bred Cows and 27 percent baby
calves.  The balance was made up of weigh cows and beef animals.  All 
quotes are on a per head basis for Holsteins unless noted otherwise.
