Cow and Bull Auction Close for 11/18/09

Receipts: 725 Last Week: 1647 Last Year: 1300

Compared to last week, a much lighter test of slaughter cows and bulls sold
2.00-3.00 higher. Cool and wet conditions in the Four State Area for several
days resulted in curbed receipts, with buyers fairly active and pushing to make
loads. Bred cows were in short supply with most being sold in single head lots
or small packages with very few uniform groups to test the market. Note: Joplin
Regional Stockyards will host a Show-Me-Select Replacement Heifer Sale this
Friday evening November 20th at 6 p.m.

in conjunction with the aforementioned conditions left many order buyers on the
sidelines this week. Supply included 76 percent steers, 22 percent heifers and 2
percent feeder bulls with 42 percent of the run weighing over 600 lbs.

Compared to last week, not enough feeder steers or heifers for a
good price test. Slaughter cows 1.00-2.00 lower. Four straight days

the run and feeders 78 percent. In the feeder supply, steers made up
approximately 60 percent of the run and heifers 40 percent. Offerings
