 Compared to the Thanksgiving Calf Special nearly two weeks ago, steers and
 heifers sold weak to 5.00 lower. Slaughter cows 3.00 to 4.00 lower on a
 heavy supply. The feeder market continues to feel the heat from seasonally
 large supplies, lack of available pen space and a tough stretch in the
 futures market. Supply heavy and demand moderate.  Feeder cattle supply
 included 60 percent Steers, 40 percent Heifers, and  0 percent Bulls.
 Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 28 percent.

    ***MID-SESSION/CLOSE***  Compared to last week, steer calves under
 500 lbs sold steady to 3.00 higher while those over 500 lbs were steady
 to 2.00 lower.  Heifer calves under 450 lbs and heavy 5-wt and heavy 6-wt
 heifers were steady to 2.00 higher and all other weights of heifers were
 steady to 2.00 lower.  Yearlings not tested.  Another good run of calves
 in the offering today with most weighing 450-700 lbs.  Demand moderate to
 good as the Live and Feeder Cattle futures are adding pressure to the
 feeder cattle trade in spite of higher fed cattle trade last week.
 Feeder cattle supply included 55 percent Steers, 40 percent Heifers, and
 5 percent Bulls. Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 56 percent.

Feeder Cattle Auction Report for  12/6/2017

   Compared to last Wednesday, feeder steers 2.00-6.00 lower. Feeder heifers
4.00-8.00 lower. Slaughter cows 2.00-4.00 lower. Supply heavy. Near 16 percent 
of the offering were cows and 16 percent of the feeders were over 600 lbs. 
Feeder supply approximately 68 percent steers and bulls and 32 percent heifers. 
Lots of good quality cattle on hand this week. Special cow sale followed the 
feeders highlighted by several locally grown reputation bred heifers. Futures 
continued their trend lower Wednesday with beef cutout values also losing some
ground.

   Compared to last week, slaughter cows traded 2.00-3.00 lower with 
slaughter bulls mostly steady.  Demand was good on breeding stock and
moderate on slaughter animals.  There was a light supply of pairs and 
a moderate supply of bred cows and slaughter animal.  The supply 
consisted of 41 percent slaughter cows, 26 percent bred cows, 3 
percent cow/calf pairs, 9 percent slaughter bulls, 10 percent stocker/
feeder cows and 12 percent calves.
