Basis information is extremely important information in helping producers and agribusiness forward price, determine local supply/demand conditions, and project prices. The Weekly Missouri Crop basis project is part of a larger project to help provide Missouri producers, educators, businesses, and policy makers information on historical basis trends. This project was initially funded by the Missouri Soybean Merchandising Council in 1999. Further financial support was provided by the Department of Agricultural Economics, University of Missouri, to allow for weekly basis updates.

The local basis information contained on these pages has been calculated as:

Basis = Cash Price - Nearby Futures Price

As time progresses more locations and subsequent publications will be added to this web site. Below is a list of current publications either explaining the use of basis or using the basis data to evaluate a price discovery, policy, or marketing issue. Please feel free to contact Joe Parcell if you have other questions.
