Grandview Woolens was just an idea in 1983 when David and
Garlyn Saupe purchased their farm in the Green Hills region of Northeast Missouri. Over
the next eight years, while still living and working in Utah, the Saupes worked during
vacation stints to ready the farm for full-time occupancy. In the spring of 1991 after
they had moved to the farm and with the purchase of 160 Rambouillet ewes, Grandview
Woolens was born.
In the years since, Grandview Woolens has evolved into a full business: sheep to a wide
array of products from yarn to hand-woven, wonderfully constructed, soft products that
wear and last forever. Because of the Saupes' intrinsic belief that quality is much more
important than quantity, all products are closely monitored to meet the highest of
standards.
David and Garlyn invite your inquiries about their products and would love to show you
their operation. With their orchard, greenhouse, berries, and sheep operation nestled
among the rolling green hills in Linn County, Missouri, Grandview Woolens is a beautiful
place to see.
Products and services from Grandview Woolens include: hand-woven woolen throws,
shawls, saddle blankets, rugs, table runners, place mats, as well as custom-made items.
Workshops on weaving as well as making hand rolled felted hats (such
as those pictured) can also be arranged. To discuss items, availability, and workshops,
contact Grandview Woolens directly: Grandview Woolens, 34560 Mabry Road, Bucklin,
MO 64631, email drsaupe@cvalley.net or phone:
660-695-3290.
Samples of Hand Rolled Felted Hats: Garlyn not only makes
and sells these one-of-a-kind fashionable hats, but she is available to teach others how
to release their own creativity and fashion a beautiful hat personally fitted during a six
hour workshop. She provides all the equipment necessary and will travel to present
workshops.
Handwoven Wool Scarf: This beautiful natural color scarf is
handwoven with a floral motif embedded in a huck lace background. Because Rambouillet wool
is very fine, products are soft and wearable.
