Fibers
The Lohmann
Farm, nestled in the rolling hills of northeast Missouri, is home to Border Leicester,
Corriedale, and Rambouillet sheep, alpacas, and Angora rabbits. These animals produce high
quality fibers that are available raw, washed, in rovings, or quilting batts.
You are welcome to call and request samples and a
complete price list of fibers that interest you. Custom dyeing is available for an
additional $6 per pound.
Raw Fibers
Wool
Ramboiullet (fine), Corriedale (medium), Border Liecester (long), Corriedale/ Border
Liecester Cross, Kid Mohair, Adult Mohair
Ranging from $3-$7 per pound.
Alpaca:
White and Black
Ranging from $20-$24 per pound
Processed Fibers
Wool Rovings
Rambouillet, Corriedale, Border Leicester, or Corriedale/ Border Leicester Cross
Ranging from $16-$18 per pound
Angora/ Rambouillet Blends in white or gray

Quilt Batting
Pure Corriedale Wool pressed into quilt batting ready for use. Available in
four sizes: Lap, Full, Queen, and King
Ranging from $14-40 per piece
Workshops
Spinning and felting workshops are available
on the Lohmann Farm, located outside of Memphis, Missouri. The instructor, Gwendolyn
Lohmann, is a retired schoolteacher that has been practicing and teaching fiber arts for
over five years, in addition to her lifetime experience of sheep raising.
Workshop times are arranged at the students
convenience. A minimum of three students is needed to hold a workshop. References from
past students are available on request.
Spinning
A two-day workshop designed to teach the elements of preparing and spinning fibers.
Students work with both drop spindle and wheels. A variety of wheel styles are available
for students to try.
$50, including materials and two luncheon meals.
Felting
A one-day workshop learning the age-old art of felting. Students will leave with three
completed projects.
$40, including materials and lunch meal.

About Us
Missouri Choice Natural Fibers is a partnership between
University of Missouri Outreach and Extension,
the Sustainable Agriculture Extension Program, and fiber artisans throughout the
state.
This is a pilot project to showcase fiber and fiber products from around Missouri,
provide access to continuing education resources, and to serve as a forum for
fiber-related events.
