Moisture Status of the Plant
Water status affects cell elongation
- Cell division generally not affected (height altered more than nodes).
- Plant height through internode distance (same number of cells amount of elongation varies).
- Fiber cell elongation during the first 21 days after flowering.
Affects turgor pressure of stomates
- Stomatal aperature related to water transpiration which directly affects ability to “cool” leaf to optimal temperature.
