Instructions for completing the Missouri Fruit and Vegetable
Grower’s Database Application Form

University of Missouri Extension has developed a listing of Missouri fruit and vegetable growers for the World Wide Web. This database is intended for fruits and vegetables only. Other farm products may be noted as outlined below, but you must be selling fruits and vegetables to be included in this database.

Please fill out all information as completely as possible. The first section contains farm and personal information that you may choose to include on the database. The rest of the application includes information which is needed to showcase your farm and the crops you grow and will be posted in your web listing.

Methods of marketing. You may check as many categories as apply. Guidelines are as follows:

  • Wholesale - You sell large amounts of produce at less-than-retail prices. This may be sold through a broker, or by yourself at your farm or market.
  • On-Farm Retail Sales, Market, or Roadside Stand/On Farm Market - You sell produce to the general public on your farm or at your own market at retail prices.
  • Farmer’s Market - You take your produce to sell at a Farmer’s Market.
  • U-Pick - You allow customers to harvest their own produce at a reduced price.
  • Community Supported Agriculture - You sell to a list of customers on a regular basis who have paid in advance for produce through the growing season. Also called "Subscription Farming."
  • Mail Order - You sell and ship your produce via mail or parcel service to retail customers.
  • Food Buying Cooperative or Food Circle - You sell your produce to organized groups of customers.

Method of Growing Crop. Please only check one category.

  • Conventional - You use traditional insecticides, fungicides, and/or herbicides in growing your crops.
  • Declared Organic - You follow guidelines that Organic growers use, but are not certified.
  • Transitional to Organic - You are in the process of converting your farm from conventional methods to Certified Organic methods. This means that you are under the advice of a recognized certifying agency during the transition period, and intend to become certified with them. Please list certifying agency in the appropriate blank.
  • Certified Organic - You grow your crops using organic methods, and are certified by a recognized certifying agency. Please list certifying agency in the appropriate blank.

Crop Section. Check all crops that you grow. If you grow a crop that is not listed, please check the box labeled "Other" and add the crop in the comments section.

Additional crops, products and remarks. These remarks will be added to a comments section in your listing. This is the place for crops that may not have been listed above. Also, any other products you have, such as value-added items, honey, or other farm products should be included here. Space is limited, so please be concise and to the point. Comments are subject to review and may be edited at the discretion of University Outreach and Extension. Please note that this section is not searchable, and that web users will not be able to search for information included here.
