1999 Missouri Winter Wheat Performance Tests McKendry, Sweets, Wright, Tague, Salzman, Mattas 1999 Missouri Winter Wheat Crop Statistics Projected Crop Statistics ------------------------- Based on July 1st USDA forecast provided by the Missouri Agricultural Statistics Service, Missouri's wheat crop was harvested from 920 thousand acres, a 26 percent decrease over acres harvested in 1998 (Table 5). State-wide, yields are projected to average 52 bushels per acre, up 6 bushels per acre from the 1998 yield. If realized, this would be the second highest yield on record. Despite above average yields, total Missouri production is projected to be lower by 9.66 million bushels due to the reduction in overall acres planted in the state. District yields are projected to range from 43 bushels per acre in north-west and west-central Missouri to 56 bushels per acre in the south-east.
