Bradd Anderson of Columbia Missouri discussed generation X (born between the 60's and 80's) that is characterized by the greatest technology leap. Millennials are the researchers, swift pace and constant change. They are the first multi taskers and are very collaborative. The current generation is Generation Z (born in the late 90's to present). Z is characterized by technology that is invisible. While some older generations claim that Generation X is “too reliant on their devices,” they have grown up with terrorism, NSA surveillance and other events that push them towards technology. This generation is very concerned about economy and competing with millennials for jobs. They will deal with the worst environmental, social, and economic problems in history. Generation X is also characterized by family and multi generational houses.

Laura Bardot – discussed how she uses technology on the farm and in college. She recommended the following apps:

  • Facebook for a business - to educate on agriculture through social media
  • Cattle Market App – market reports
  • Hyperlase – time lapse app
  • Weather
  • AgWeb - check on news, markets
  • Farm Journal - commodity specific news
  • Brownfield Ag News
  • Ibotta
  • JDLink
  • ID Weeds
  • Ag Index
  • Cattle Visions
  • Beef Market Central
