Andy Adam from Vandalia, MO explained how he had successfully used variable rate liming in his farm operation. He explained how farms could benefit from variable rate liming especially in terms of long- term costs. Andy described some specialized systems for variable rate liming which included GPS systems interfacing with variable rate controllers.
He showed several pictures of his farm with examples of soil samples that he had collected for his farm. He concluded his presentation by providing an example of the money saved by variable rate liming versus the hiring of a commercial applicator.
