Environmental Focus Team

  • Business Environmental Risk Management
BERM is an educational program designed to help crop and livestock producers understand and manage their potential environmental risks. This web site permits a person to find a particular parcel of land on an aerial photograph and then create a report outlining environmental characteristics of that land.
  • Missouri Animal Feeding Operation Site Evaluation Report
The Missouri Animal Feeding Operation (AFO) Site Assessment is an educational tool designed to help producers understand and manage their potential community and environmental impacts. This internet-based tool allows a user to define farm boundaries used for production on an aerial photograph and then create a report outlining community and environmental characteristics of the site and its surrounding areas.
  • County Resources Regarding the Impact of Animal Agriculture
This web site provides information that has been requested by county commissioners and citizens to learn about the changing structure of agriculture, economic impacts of animal agriculture, Missouri's regulatory climate for animal agriculture and resources that cover water quality, air quality and human health risks.

  • Competitiveness of Missouri's Animal Agriculture: Regulations and Water Quality
The primary objective of this project was to provide perspective on the impact of Missouri’s regulations on concentrated animal feeding operations. The analysis worked to address the following questions. How does Missouri's regulatory climate compare with competing states? Do Missouri’s regulations create an obvious disadvantage to Missouri farmers compared to farmers doing business in other states? Are there opportunities to improve the competitiveness of Missouri agriculture while protecting water quality?
