Central Region Woodland Stewardship Conference: Nov. 18-19, 2005

The hazelnut field trial on the grounds of the Lied Conference Center will be one of four Friday afternoon field sessions.

The 8th annual Central Region Woodland Stewardship Conference will be held November 18-19 at the beautiful National Arbor Day Foundation’s Lied Conference Center in Nebraska City, Neb. It is sponsored by University of Missouri Extension and the Missouri Department of Conservation in conjunction with State and Extension Forestry in Iowa, Kansas and Nebraska. Landowners will learn how to manage their woodlands and related natural resources using good stewardship principles.

Pre-conference workshops on measuring timber, hazelnuts, and tree identification will be offered Friday afternoon. The conference kicks off Saturday morning with an opportunity for landowners to talk with professional foresters and will then proceed into concurrent presentations covering topics in woodland management, tree health, agroforestry and wildlife.

The conference registration fee of $40 per person ($50 if post-marked after November 16) includes a great buffet luncheon, refreshments, and handout materials. Attendance is limited to 250, so early registration is encouraged.

For more information or a conference brochure, contact MU Extension Forester, Hank Stelzer at (573) 882- 4444, or email stelzerh@missouri.edu.
