The economic recession has really taken its toll on the forest products industry. Folks with the Missouri Forest Products Association say that if not for the railroad tie markets remaining strong the industry would really be in a world of hurt. For the forest landowner, that means a lot of higher value lumbergrade logs are going into railroad ties. And salvage operations from the May 8 storm will undoubtedly drive Ozark stumpage prices even lower. So, most foresters are advising landowners to wait out this economic storm. The Bid Box will return in the fall.
